A month ago I found a headline on an ABC news story — “ExxonMobile CEO Defends High Profits” — that seems like something out of the increasingly prescient Atlas Shrugged, which all the smart and noble people claim is so improbable.
Today’s headline delivered to Galt’s Gulch:
“Plano Leaders Run from Census Bureau’s ‘Wealthiest’ Designation.”
Seriously? When did poverty and failure become virtues and success and profit become morally suspect?
In a world not run by the Elsworth Toohey’s, those headlines would read, “Exxon CEO High Fives Charles Gibson Silly; Does End Zone Dance” and “Plano: Everyone Else Smells Like Sour Milk”
