  • So the $64 million DISD budget shortfall may cost 700 teachers their jobs. And the district may find its enrollment increased by 250-400 new kids who were evacuated from the coast because of Hurricane Ike. This should go well.

  • Dallas Police are looking into whether officers violated the no-chase policy in a chase on Sept. 6 that left one officer seriously injured. This is a gray one since the driver tried to run over some cops, but there’s a good reason for the no-chase policy in cases of non-violent offenders, as I detailed in a feature I wrote for D Magazine in June.
