Thurdsday Roundup: Colored Expressions, Bailout Newspeak, Prosecutor-DA Inquisition, Suffering Suffrage

  • So after County Commissioner John Wiley Price declares the scientific term “black hole” off limits in Dallas, now City Councilmember Dwaine Caraway — who usually knows better and is a smarter guy — says people using the adjective “dark” is racist. This colors my perception of Mr. Caraway.
  • Sex, ties, and videotape at Neiman Marcus. (Tip: Don’t knock one out at work where there are surveillance cameras.)
  • The U.S. Senate kowtows and passes the $700 billion bailout 74-25 despite what Americans want. And notice how newspapers picked up their new marching orders and changed “bailout” to “rescue” in their pro-interventionist marketing materials?
  • Your Moment of Zen: Do you really want people you have to beg, cajole, and shame into voting to actually vote? Especially those who only do it because vapid celebrities tell them to? (Bonus: Look for Giovanni Ribisi having to read off a paper, “First Amendment, Second Amendment…” These are hard to remember?) Watch the (excruciating painful and wholly insipid) video here:

okay I tried to watch that insipid video and couldn’t get past the first minute. What is it with the left that they push these videos and then get to do what they are doing in Ohio this week.
and yet when election day comes we will see stories in the press and on TV about alleged voter intimidation and suppression of voters rights.

I think we need to go back to the days when you had to be a property owner to be able to vote. Since a car is considered property think how the economy could be boosted through last minute car deals as people scramble to buy a car so that they could vote

  2. Peterk says:

forgot one thing. you would have to provide proof of insurance coverage along with the title to your car. and you have to hold onto the car for at least one year. Failure to own the car will result in your not being allowed to vote in the next election

If only those hollywood geniuses would take their own advice! I mean really they are people who memorize lines and imagine they are someone they are not. All to often they get confused and believe that playing a smart person really means you are one.

I looked at the bailout with great ambivalence. I believe that the tentacle of the problem have a very long reach and help was needed. After reading the paper this morning, I am shifting. Now we have a bill filled with political candy to entice votes. I am tired of bills being larded with a smorgasboard of amendments aimed soley at making political statements. We need line item veto! This is a dark day.

Ooops, sorry, not supposed to say dark. It’s not a dark day. It’s a day during which we suffer from a deficit of light. Do you thnk that is okay? Instead of a dark cloud how about a collection of water vapor consuming all colors of the spectrum? Kinda rolls of the tongue doesn’t it?
When are we going to stand up to the insanity of PC speech?
