RIP Dallas: “Watch Our Civic Disobedience”

Here’s a little insight how phony baloney the pro-People’s Hotel RIP Dallas group is. Right on the front page of their circa 2002 style web site we have this:

Watch our civic disobedience in action. At City Hall … and in public spots all over Dallas.

Civic disobedience? Really?

274961774v16_350x350_front1RIP Dallas is aligned with the Mayor Tom Leppert, 12 of 14 city council members, the Dallas Citizens Council, John Wiley Price’s southern sector mafia, and most of the other pro-corporate welfare organizations in Dallas that give lip service to the free market and nothing more. Who exactly are they disobeying?

This is about as alternative as a meeting of the Plano Rotary Club.

Let’s treat this as a teaching moment, my grasshoppers.

1) You can’t buy credibility

2) You can’t pay an invoice for grassroots or hip

3) Government project free market

    1. You first said the site had nothing to do with the Young Professionals of Dallas and now think you can lecture others on credibility. Ha ha ha ha ha.

    2. You have significant ties to D Magazine and Highland Park’s illustrious Wick Allison (gee, those would be Republicans and big companies advertising in that magazine of his, wouldn’t it?) but you stereotype a group of people younger that you made up of Republicans, Democrats and Independents. That would make you both not credible and…oh let us Millennials guess… an X’er, right?

    3. Of course, if 12 of 14 council members believe something is right, all the Chambers of Commerce believe it is right, all the downtown hotels want it to happen, then it CANT POSSIBLY be good for the city can it? And on your team you would have … um…well…Anne Raymond! Good for you!

Oh well, at least you’ll have a free room at the Anatole waiting for you after all this is over. Harlan did tell you it’s on the first floor next to the ice machine didn’t he? (By the way, how is it you figure supporting Harlan Crow is NOT supporting the pro-billionaire pro corporate bailout Republican agenda, cause that has us Millennials scratchin our noggins).

It’s oddly comforting that the wackos have attached to this issue. Wow. The “blog” on RIP site…maybe it was over my head.

Did anyone besides me notice that the head of R.I.P. Dallas is Dupree Scovell? Dupree’s dad is John Scovell, the head of Woodbine Development– he is one of the hotel’s biggest backers and the holder of interests in a huge pile of real estate over in that part of downtown.
