A Hero Named Defiance

Two days from now will be 20 years exactly since an unknown rebel showed the world what a Real Man is.

This Man was born and indoctrinated his whole life in a place where the State is all, dissidence is death, and the individual counts for absolutely nothing.

And still, he stood up, alone against the State and its death machines, and He. Did. Not. Back. Down.

It makes me cry every time I see it. I just watched it with my 13 year old daughter. She cried, too.

  2. keith johnson says:

At least for now, Americans wouldn’t have to stand unarmed against tanks-we have guns.

  3. Anonymous says:

Any postscript on who that guy was or what became of him?

  4. billh says:

I wonder how many of us have that sort of bravery. I fear not many. It’s a wonderful and terrifying sight.

  5. amanda says:

@ anonywhatever… That is one of the greatest questions of the last 20 years. Some reports have him “aborbed” by the crowed and disolved into the a mass of people as a quiet hero we can’t see off camera. This theory is that he escaped and is either 1) running a dry cleaners in South Florida, or 2) lives in obscurity in a remote area undetected by Chinese officials. Others say he was captured and executed either 2 weeks to 6 months later. Either way, the guy is a hero. Some say he was a student, others say he was just an ordinary guy who just got really pissed off…
