This is an old Dallas custom apparently.
The first I recall having seen "A private citizen so fed up he invested money for an ad" ... like this, a full page ....of outrage against a president and government policies. Ran on November 22, 1963.

When in a shit pickle, drown your woes in Victory Gin. By the time the bottle's half gone, you'll feel too big to fail!

"On the other hand, I do love Jeeps. And the new Mustangs. So I’m in what Hellenistic and Renaissance philosophers so commonly referred to as “a shit pickle.” (from the original Latin.)"

I feel your pain. I went from a '04 Land Rover Discovery to an '08 Jeep Wrangler four door last year and was pleasantly surprised. I loved that Disco but the Jeep is just as much fun and much easier on the wallet (not having to buy premium gas anymore was a treat in itself). However the dealership nearest to me was shut down by Chrysler so I will now have to drive farther for service and I also have to worry about what will happen to the brand now that Fiat has control. I still have three years on the lease so hopefully the market will sort itself out by the time I need to start shopping for a replacement. Optimistic little sonofagun, aren't I?

"Shit pickle..." (snicker)...I like that.
