In 50 years America’s food, wine and beer selection has gone from Wonder Bread and Bud Light to the single best developed nation.
If you’re reading this over a gourmet lunch item and craft beer, hug a capitalist — because that’s why.
Plausibly Undeniable

The single-best developed nation + balsamic vinagrette with toasted pine nuts and a garnish of mango chutney = Heaven.
For the record — if I’m piss-drunk on craft beer, can I make an embarrassing pass at a capitalist mid-hug? Or even a communist, hell, I said I’m drunk, not picky.
There are now 170+ craft breweries in the United States. Some of the very best are located here in Texas. St Arnolds, Rahr, Real Ale, and of course, Shiner (Spoetzl) are fantastic. Franconia in McKinney is up and coming.
American beer is already the best in the world.
Thanks Capitalism!
Seventeen percent of Americans live below the poverty line and cannot afford basic nutrition – thanks capitalism!
The number one nutritional problem for the poor in America is obesity.
Perhaps their problem is they’re as lazy at working as they are about exercise.
“…selection has gone from Wonder Bread…to the single best developed nation.”
The selection has gone from Wonder Bread to the single best developed nation? What does that mean?
Who told you you could write, Garrison?
“Seventeen percent of Americans live below the poverty line and cannot afford basic nutrition – thanks capitalism!”
And most of them are damn well fed. What an idiotic remark. The number of actual starving people would be far greater if it were not for capitalism. Please name a socialist, collectivist, communist state that can adequately offer as many people as high a standard of living as enjoyed under capitalism.
“The poor will always be with us.” Jesus Christ
UPDATE:
Nine craft beers + Daniel + girl from single-worst developed country = smug doc wincin’ at me pecker. Thanks, craft beer.
Where do I go to punch out a capitalist?
Or even a communist, hell, I said I’m enraged and humiliated, not patient.
“The poor will always be with us.†Jesus Christ
“let ‘em eat cake” Frank R and the other anarcho-libertarian Garrisonites
“Please name a socialist, collectivist, communist state that can adequately offer as many people as high a standard of living as enjoyed under capitalism.”
Please name a socialist, collectivist, communist state that has the same amount of debt as the US does under capitalism.
Bud Light beer is 50 years old? Bud has been around, sure, but I’m thinking Michelob light was the first of the A-B Light beer brands.
You might be on to something. Maybe we could use some craft medicine, craft oil, craft auto, etc.
N Korea was the more developed and industrialized area of the peninsula at the end of WWII. S Korea was far more agrarian. Now, S Korea is industrialized, modern, and happily contributing to the great global warming myth. N Korea’s citizens have to eat grass when there isn’t enough UN food welfare being handed out to them.
So on behalf of the North Korean people, thanks Communism!
All major societal advances over the past 500 years have been a result of capitalism and the private ownership of resources.
We aren’t living in mud huts, starving to death in the winter, and dying of plagues… thanks Capitalism!
Anon, please explain how 40 years of increasing spending for the Great Society programs have not eliminated poverty. Please explain which socialist societies have eliminated poverty.
Please spare us the bleeding heart and try to use what is between your ears. Capitalism does the most good for the greatest number. Even in socialist society there are many poor.
“… please explain how 40 years of increasing spending for the Great Society programs have no eliminated poverty. ”
Because that same 40 years saw a tiny handdful of investment bankers steal trillions
Pretty pathetic answer Anon, and with nothing to support it but righteous indignation.
Considering that it’s the farm subsidies that lead to the cheap, processed food that makes people fat, it can’t really be capitalism that’s the problem….
Tell that to all the fat poor people in capitalist Africa. Oh wait, there aren’t any…Only lazy fairy capitalism can create obesity and poverty in the same population.
Tyrannical, coercive governments create famine.
If I were as bad as you are at this, I’d stick with anonymous as well.
