At the risk of y’all being tired of this, I’m posting another review, this one by Bookworm Babblings, which gave me five out of five for part one.

Here’s a taste:

It was a fun novel for me, I honestly couldn’t put it down down and it’s also a quick read.  If you like adventure, science fiction, or a mix of both genres, this is the book for you.  I can’t wait for book two to see what happens next!

Another review of Black Sun Reich

This is a review by “My Name is Sage.” Here’s a taste.

Trey Garrison begins his story with a violent scene in a Vatican cathedral where we meet the frightening, Der Schadel, also known as The Skull, and his team of Nazi storm troopers. The group is after the spear of destiny, and they aren’t the only ones who want their hands on this powerful blade. Texan pilot, Sean Fox Rucker and German physician, Dr. Deitel, are an unlikely duo working together against the Nazis, but the pair work well together. They also team up with a handful of other vibrant characters who are out to stop the Germans from unleashing an unstoppable darkness across the world.
Rucker is my favorite character in the novel because…

Another interview about The Spear of Destiny

I talk about the challenges of writing horror scenes, who I’d like to see cast in the movie, and more. Here’s a taste.

Part one is out and doing well. Part two, Death Head’s Legion downloads Jan. 2. Pre-order now.

Jess : What is the most scariest or weirdest/craziest thing one of your characters, from “The Spear of Destiny: Part One – Black Sun Reich,” said or did?

Trey : Oh God. Easily Der Schadel, the telepathic, telekinetic sadist as the scariest. Writing his scenes, I actually creeped myself out. He starts with making a group of altar boys eviscerate themselves, and it just gets worse after that. But I wanted to show that while this is, taken together, a fun adventure story, the stakes are dire and the bad guys were really evil. He’s the embodiment of the cold, dispassionate murderers you saw running the death camps and performing medical experiments.

The Enquiring Hitchhiker Interviews New Author Trey Garrison

The Enquiring Hitchhiker

Question 5- Tell us a bit about your personal politics and how that affects your writing? Well, I am a libertarian so I can’t help that some of that seeps into my writing. But I like to think I give a fair hearing and realistic portrayal of non-libertarian thought. I never want my books to be preachy or have some great underlying message. The story must always come first. Still, given my persuasion, I suppose I’m more likely to have heroes be unaffiliated with the government – they’re not cops or government agents or soldiers. They’re as likely as not to be traders, merchants and businessmen. In fact, the working title of THE SPEAR OF DESTINY was “The Merchant Princes” as my primary protagonists are trade negotiators who run an air cargo shipping business.

Action! Adventure! Steampunk!
Trey Garrison combines pulp, diesel-punk, and a horde of power-hungry zombie-making Nazis in the first of his three-part alternate history novel

Equal parts adventure, snark, diesel-punk creations, and mind-bending alternate history, Black Sun Reich is pulp novel straight out of the 1920s—except it’s not. The author describes it as “…genre-mashing alternate history Nazi zombie supernatural comedy adventure with robots, cowboys and monsters.” And that doesn’t begin to cover it.

Black Sun Reich: Part One of three in The Spear of Destiny, the first novel in a new steampunk, horror, alternate history, action-adventure comedy series set in a 1920s where the Nazis have begun their subjugation of the world using the occult, advanced science, and a holy relic with awesome powers.

And don’t miss the other parts of this serialized novel – Part Two: Death’s Head Legion and Part Three: Shadows Will Fall. All are available now for pre-order on Amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com. Part 1 will download Dec. 18, part 2 will download Jan. 2, and part 3 will download on Jan. 22. The book is being published by the Voyager imprint of Harper Collins.

Trey Garrison recaptures the unapologetic adventure, wonder and excitement of the classic pulp fiction of the 1930s and 1940s, blending elements of steampunk with deeply-researched historical fiction and a good dose of humor. The novel also explores major philosophical and moral issues relevant to our contemporary world: the trade-off between security and liberty, the morality of pre-emptive war, and what fundamentally separates good from evil.

The North American continent is made up of several rival nations, and a Cold War is building between them. The Nazis rose to power a decade earlier. People travel by airship and powerful organizations calculate with Babbage’s Difference Engine. The Nazis have hatched a plot to raise a legion of undead soldiers.

Enter Sean Fox Rucker, Jesus D’Anconia Lago, two Great War veterans and freelance pilots who are pulled into the quest. They are joined by a brash Greek merchant, a brilliant Jewish cowboy, and the woman who once broke Rucker’s heart. This ragtag band of reluctant, bickering, swashbuckling heroes soon is locked in a globe-spanning race against Nazi occultists, clockwork assassins, and a darkly charismatic commando. In a world where science and the supernatural co-exist, and the monsters of legend are as real necromancers who summon them from dark realms, our heroes alone stand before the rising darkness. But all their efforts may not be enough.

Praise for The Spear of Destiny:
“Imagine an alternate version of some of history’s great events combined with a blissfully diabolical imagination. Add a cast of rogue characters and a storytelling ability that leaves you breathless. The result is Trey Garrison’s excellent debut novel, THE SPEAR OF DESTINTY, a book full of dry humor and page-turning action, sure to leave you wanting more.”
—Harry Hunsicker, Author of The Contractors and former EVP of the Mystery Writers of America

About the Author:
